Horse riding on the beach in Agadir — two riders on the wet sand with the turquoise Atlantic behind them
Horse riding Agadir beach

One hour on the sand, 20 minutes from Agadir

Agadir's city beach is wide, busy and shared with quad bikes. The riding is better a little way up the coast: our stable sits at Banana Beach in Aourir, on the N1 between Tamraght and Taghazout, and the ride goes straight from the stable onto open Atlantic sand.

Why an hour works

It fits into a day. Most people on this ride have a beach afternoon or a dinner to get to, and an hour is long enough to get out onto the sand, take your photographs and come back without the day disappearing. If you want longer in the saddle, the two-hour coastal ride carries on up the shoreline towards Taghazout.

Never ridden before?

Most people on this ride haven't. We keep the groups small and match every horse to the person riding it, so a first-timer gets a calm horse, a short briefing before mounting and a guide walking alongside until you feel settled. Helmets are available on request.

If you already ride

Say so when you book and you'll be given a horse with more forward in it. The pace on this ride is set by whoever is riding, not by a fixed programme.

Good to know

Questions about this ride

How much is a one-hour horse ride in Agadir?

€30 (300 DH) per person. You pay at the stable on the day, in dirhams or euros; nothing is taken to reserve. Hotel pick-up is a paid add-on, quoted by zone when you book.

Where does the beach ride actually go?

Out from our stable at Banana Beach in Aourir onto the open Atlantic sand and back, on the coast between Tamraght and Taghazout — about 20 minutes north of the Agadir hotel strip, rather than along the city beach.

Can beginners do this ride?

Yes, and most people on it have never been on a horse. You get a calm horse matched to you, a short briefing before you mount and a guide walking beside you until you feel settled. Helmets are available on request.

Is one hour long enough?

For most people, yes — it is the ride that fits around a day in Agadir. If you want longer in the saddle, ask about the two-hour coastal ride, which carries on up the shoreline towards Taghazout.

Can children ride?

Yes. Children ride the beach routes with a guide walking alongside the younger ones, and the one-hour ride is usually the right length for them.

What time of day can I ride?

We are open daily from 07:00 to 19:00, and rides run in the morning and again in the late afternoon. In summer we stay off the beach in the middle of the day, for the horses as much as the riders.

Can you pick me up from my hotel?

Yes, from Agadir, Taghazout, Taghazout Bay and Tamraght. Transport is a paid add-on and the rate depends on your zone — tell us the name of your hotel and we will quote it before you decide. If you drive, there is parking at the stable.

What should I wear?

Long trousers or leggings and closed shoes with a small heel. Bring sunglasses, sun cream and a light layer for a late-afternoon ride — the wind comes up off the Atlantic once the sun drops.
