An hour on the sand as the sun goes down

The sunset camel ride leaves from our stable at Banana Beach in Aourir and follows the shoreline on the Taghazout side of the coast. It is slow on purpose: one rider per camel, led on foot by a guide at walking pace. You sit, watch the Atlantic and take photographs.

Who books it

Surf-camp guests looking for something to do on a flat day, couples, and families. Children from six ride on their own camel; under-sixes ride with a parent.

Sunset near Taghazout moves by about two hours through the year, from around 18:40 in December to around 20:45 in early July. So we don't publish a fixed slot — tell us your date and we give you the start time for that evening.

What time does the sunset camel ride start?

It depends on the date. Sunset near Taghazout ranges from about 18:40 in December to about 20:45 in early July, so we set the departure time when you book rather than publishing a fixed slot.

Does the ride start in Taghazout?

No — it starts at our stable at Banana Beach in Aourir, about 10 minutes' drive south of Taghazout, and follows the shore on the Taghazout side of the coast.

Can children ride?

Yes. Children from six ride on their own camel; under-sixes ride with a parent.

Can you pick us up from Taghazout?

Yes — from Taghazout, Taghazout Bay, Tamraght and Agadir. Transport is a paid add-on and the rate depends on your zone; tell us where you are staying and we will quote it before you decide.

What should I bring?

A light layer — the wind comes up off the Atlantic once the sun drops. Trousers and closed shoes make it easiest to get on and off a camel. And your phone or camera: this is the photograph ride.

Can I ride a horse as well?

Yes. The horse and camel ride gives you an hour of each from the same stable, or you can book a horse ride in the morning and come back for the sunset camel ride in the evening.
